How does it work?

Smart matching: Users are paired based on relevant expertise and reputation scores
People helping people: The platform is specifically built for people to feel comfortable being open and vulnerable and for people that answer being helpful and respectful, so users who align with this vision tend to have a better experience than people who don’t.

3 Different interaction modes:

Anonymous Q&A forum for quick, dynamic exchanges.
1-on-1 expert sessions on-demand, paid video calls with proven experts.
“Spaces” small, intimate group conversations (like grabbing coffee with 3–5 people).

What kinds of topics can I discuss here?

There is no limit to the kinds of topics you may discuss here as long as the tone is genuine and respectful. Because of the anonymity and safe space, we provide, users feel comfortable discussing topics they might not feel comfortable doing so in other online or offline settings.
Categories like mental health, self-improvement, relationships, personal growth, counseling, parenting or sexuality historically have been the most popular. But the platform is built so that any type of question or request is served to the people that are best suited to answer or fulfill it. You can literally ask anything like you ask ChatGPT, the difference is that here you’ll interact with humans. Precisely! We believe people are intrinsically good and that everyone has vast experience and knowledge in life and in all sorts of topics, and all this knowledge can be of great use to others. ThrowTM is built to maximize this opportunity of people helping people through
empathy and connection. So, seek all the support and wisdom you need and be open to be that person that provides support for others when they may need you.

Is it free?

Yes! We believe everyone should have access to our platform without the need to pay. It’s 100% free to download and use ThrowTM.

The free plan gives users extensive access to a close to full experience but with few limitations and ads.

We also offer a free trial to all users that complete their profile with no need to add payment method or commit to future payment. The reason is to allow all users to experience the platform at its fullest.

And for the people who love ThrowTM and use it regularly we offer a premium plan to enjoy the full experience, access to everything, all content and features and no ads.

Additional to this, the platform provides access to a marketplace of expertise where users may book expert sessions with each other whenever they may wish to. In this case, each user sets their own rate.

Can I earn money here?

Yes, we offer compensation in the means of “reward credits” which you may then redeem for cash. There are 2 ways you can get compensated in ThrowTM:

By offering 1 on 1 expert sessions. While providing helpful answers through “Q&A” and participating in “Spaces” is completely free and does not provide any sort of compensation, in doing so and being your best version, you promote yourself for further help through expert sessions.

How many questions can I throw per day?

As many as you like. There is no limit!

How many questions can I answer per day?

As many as you like as there is no limitation given that you don’t have a low score or warnings.
You will constantly get questions assigned to you in your “Answer” page. However, there is a rating system. The better score you have and the more robust your profile is the more questions you get assigned! Keep in mind if you finish all assigned questions, you may also browse for more questions to answer.

How does ThrowTM determine who to assign each question to?

We take in consideration user expertise as well as score (reputation) to find the most appropriate matches for each question. This way we maximize the chances of offering higher quality answers.

How can I receive more questions?

By increasing your score! We favor users with higher scores and assign them questions in that order.
By making your profile as complete as you can. The more we know about your fields of expertise and how you can help others, the more content that is relevant to you we can send your way.

Make sure you have your notifications on so that we may let you know when there are questions available to answer. The more questions you answer, the higher your score, and the more money you can make!

Can I edit my question once I have launched a Throw?

Yes, you will have 1 minute to make changes to your throw. After that it will not be possible as it will already be assigned to other users.

1 on 1 Sessions

How much do 1 on 1 sessions cost?

Experts set their own hourly rates and when one requests a session, one can choose the duration of the session

How are experts verified or vetted?

We offer an expert marketplace where we use transparency to demonstrate merit. Users build a reputation in their profile where they demonstrate merit and value by actually providing it. So, the best tools you have in hand to assess a user’s reliability are score, stats, expertise, answers history, and session reviews.

Are 1 on 1 sessions instant or scheduled?

We offer both. Depending on the expert you choose and his/her availability you may request an instant session or schedule a session in the future.

When will I be charged for a session?

In the case of instant sessions you will be charged the moment the expert accepts the request and in the case of scheduled sessions you will be charged 24 hours before the session.

In the case that the payment is declined or there is a problem collecting full payment, you will be notified and given a grace period to fix it and if the grace period expires without the full payment, the session will be immediately canceled.

What happens if the expert doesn’t show up?

There is a 5-minute grace period after which the session will be immediately canceled if the expert doesn’t show up. If this happens, in the case of instant sessions you will not be charged in the first place and in the case of scheduled sessions you will be reimbursed your payment.

What happens if I’m offering sessions but need some time off for a vacation for example?

You may toggle off your availability anytime. Just make sure you do so with enough time. People may book 2 weeks ahead so that is the ideal time to pause your availability to avoid misunderstandings.

Is it only experts that have reviews?

No, like Uber, after a session finishes, both the client and the expert are asked to review each other. This way also clients have a sessions reputation that experts can see when requested a session.

We disapprove offensive, abusive and toxic behavior from anyone and have built this system so that both sides (client and expert) show respect and the best version of themselves.

Is live video hosted on Throw or on 3rd party platform?

We are planning to host live video experiences on our own infrastructure in the future but for these early versions of these experiences we are using Google Meet which is a platform that is well-known, performs well and is super secure. I you do not have it; you will need to download Google Meet app to able to join 1 and 1 sessions and Spaces.

Score

What is the “score” and what is it for?

Our main objective is to provide value to our users by creating a safe space that fosters and nurtures positive, empathetic, honest and unbiased environment. For this, we have created a mechanism that allows us to promote users that are more aligned with this vision and demote users may be malicious or that go against this vision.

A few days after joining, every user will be assigned a score that reflects how good of a job they are doing based on a series of attributes that we consider important in this vision.

This score will constantly be updated based on each user’s behavior.

To know more what you can do to improve your score, simply tap on the star on the top of the home screen. You will see a detailed breakdown of your score.

What effect will each user’s score have in their experience?

People with a higher score will get questions assigned with higher priority than people with lower scores. Equally, people with higher scores and better reviews will likely have more session bookings than people with low scores and bad reviews.

Certain features will be directly impacted by the score. For example, users with high scores will be able to answer any question on the platform whereas users with lower score will have some restrictions.

In the end score is each user’s reputation in the platform.

How can I improve my score?

By:

Being more active (asking more or answering more)
Improving the content and quality of your answers
- Getting more people to like your answers
- Try to avoid having your content tagged as negative
- Avoid having any of your answers reported for either offensive or bad quality content
Boosting! It counts just as likes on your answers

Moderation

What if I get negative, offensive or trash (gibberish) answers?

We have a robust moderation protocol as well as a very strict policy for this. If this happens, all you must do is tag it as negative content or report it as offensive or trash (gibberish) content; in the case of offensive or trash (gibberish) content we’ll dig into it, and if you’re right, we will penalize the offender.

In what cases and how can I report someone?

One of the main goals we have is to create a safe environment of valuable, positive, respectful, diverse, honest, and unbiased communication. And for this we must neutralize any person that provides malicious, disrespectful, and offensive content as well as content that is unrelated (ex: copy paste from another topic) or bad quality (ex: gibberish text).

In summary,

Immediately report any content that is either offensive or bad quality, the users that are found guilty of this will be given a few warnings before being banned, their score will be drastically affected (so they will have less opportunities to answer more questions or engage in 1 on 1 sessions or Spaces). Be mindful and do not try to abuse the system as untruthful reports may eventually have an impact on the user that triggered it.

Who decides if the content is offensive or bad quality?

Whenever a report is filed, the case is immediately processed and sent to several users acting as a jury who will determine if the content is in fact offensive or of bad quality in a majority vote basis. So, normal people just like you; with no bias on the quarrel will decide this. As a member of the community, you may receive this kind of question from time to time.

How does getting reported affect me?

Depending on the category of the report (bad quality content or offensive content) you will get a corresponding number of warnings.

These warnings significantly affect your score and if you get more than a total of 4 warnings, you will immediately be banned from the platform. There are also automated measures based on lower scores and existence of warnings like cool off periods, inability to answer public questions or restrictions to engage in 1 on 1 sessions or
Spaces.

We encourage users to take this seriously and to try to be the best version of themselves as scores take all these things into account, warnings are permanent and banned accounts will not be reinstated.

Payments

Who keeps my payment method details? Are they safe?

There are only 2 cases in which you may make a payment in our platform.

For the purchase of Premium Subscription or “service credits”, the payment goes through in app purchases inside your preferred app store (Apple or Google Play) and the payment methods are the ones you manage in those app stores, and this
information is never shared with us.
For the purchase of 1 on 1 sessions, we use the most secure and trusted payment processor in the world named Stripe to collect your payment (you may learn more about them at www.stripe.com). Any provided payment information will travel directly from you to Stripe never passing through us or our servers. This way your information is always secure.

In neither of these cases nor anywhere in our entire platform do we see or store any of your payment method details.

You can rest assured your information is always safe and never accessible by us or any harmful party and best industry practices are always maintained.

Payouts

Is there a minimum or a maximum amount for withdrawing my balance as a payout?

There is a minimum as there is a third-party processing fee to send the funds to your bank account but any figure over that amount is ok. However, we do encourage users to accumulate and make these transactions as large as possible for this third-party fee to affect your funds as least as possible and get the most of it to your bank account.

When will I receive my payout?

We process most of the third-party transactions at the end of the month so you may expect the funds in your account within the first few days of the next month.

Security & Privacy

Is my personal data safe?

Of course! We maintain the highest encryption and safety protocols to protect our users’ data. On the other hand, we do not disclose or sell any of your data to any third party. So, you may feel at ease knowing that your data is contained and safe.

As a platform made for the community, we want to avoid using shady principles that have been adopted by most social media companies which profit from preying on their users and selling their data, we prioritize our users first. This means we are not selling your personal data.

What are public profiles and what of my information can other people see?

For us it was very important to maintain anonymity but at the same time to unlock everyone’s potential to help others. We do this through transparency. In this public profile, you will remain anonymous but other users will be able to see your demographics, score, stats, expertise, answers history, and session reviews. This way, the value you may provide to them becomes transparent and if they choose to interact with you, it is because it makes sense to
them and you can be of help.

I’m worried about my privacy; how many people will see my questions and answers?

All users will be able to see most other user’s questions and answers on the different feeds as well as using the search feature. However, the account or identity of the person that asked a question will remain anonymous. Users will be able to see the public profile of the person that provided an answer.

Even though your profile is anonymous and when you ask a question, people will have no way of tracing it to you, you should be careful with sensitive data or information you would not want other people to see.

Also, keep in mind that since “1 on 1 sessions” and “Spaces” are live video calls, people who you participate in those calls with may see your face. You are free to maintain yourself as anonymous as you feel comfortable.

Feel free to share personal feelings and situations as it may not be traced back to you but be wary of sharing your identity or any sensitive information like credit cards, addresses, phone numbers, etc. *No user is allowed to request payment details through “1 on 1 sessions” or “Spaces” so please by no means share any such information with any user.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, of course. You may close and delete your account at any time.

Artificial Intelligence

Do you use AI at all?

Yes, AI is an incredibly powerful tool that used correctly can make companies better, stronger, faster, and more capable. In our case we use AI behind the scenes to enhance our capabilities and do much of the technical heavy lifting. We use AI to enhance human connection, but our user experience is exclusively human to human, our users do not interact directly with AI.

Why would I use ThrowTM when I can use ChatGPT instead?

AI can process information fast, but it can’t feel. Many of life’s challenges require empathy, lived experience, and genuine understanding—not algorithms. Our service is built entirely on
real human interaction because that’s what creates meaningful connection and deep down it’s what humans need in these situations.

Isn’t AI faster and more efficient?

Absolutely—for data and tasks. But emotional support and authentic conversation aren’t about speed. They’re about being heard, understood, and supported by someone who truly gets it.

How is this different from talking to a chatbot?

Chatbots simulate empathy; humans offer it. We bring real emotions, unique perspectives, and the kind of warmth and trust that can’t be replicated by a machine.

Why does human connection matter more now?
